The Hobbit
So I love reading books and now that I have FINALLY graduated from college I don’t feel as guilty when I read non-school books. 🙂 Last year I read a total of 18 books after graduation and this year I plan to surpass that. So far I’m only up to 4 books this year.
Most recently I read The Hobbit. I LOVE The Lord of the Rings movies. And when I say love I mean I may be a little obsessed. 🙂 I have watched the movies countless times but I have never read the books so with the Amazon gift cards I got for Christmas, I bought the series.
I really enjoyed reading The Hobbit. There were quite a few things that I discovered in the book that the movies touch on but I didn’t get. For example, Frodo’s sword was given to him by Bilbo and is named Sting. I always just thought the line in the movie where Sam and Frodo capture Smiegol was weird but now I know that the sword has a name. Also, you get to hear the whole story about the trolls that Bilbo tells to the children at his birthday party.
Also, I had heard that Tolkien is really long winded but I didn’t think he was. I read the Inheritance Cycle last year and those were REALLY long winded. I just wanted the author to get to the point and get it over with but The Hobbit didn’t bother me at all. We will see how I feel about The Lord of The Rings since they are next on the list. 🙂
I really enjoyed the Dwarfs and I really can’t wait to see how they are all portrayed when the movie comes out in December.
